The crash of the Aberdeen to London sleeper train which careered off the track on the notorius Morpeth curve, just half a mile from the station.The crash happened at 10 minutes past midnight on 24th June, 1984 Mr. Philip Wiltshire, (Area S & T Engineer), Mr. Alan Goldfinch, (Mechanical and Electrical Engineer), Lt. Col., Anthony townsend-Rose, Inspector) and Mr. Colin McKeeper (Deputy Regional Operations Manager) open the enquiry on 17th July 1984
