Leda and the Swan" a huge swan with intentionally phallic neck forcing a naked girl into the water, "Ondine" a naked girl being dragged by her heels under the water of pond, "Idealists" a nude man dangling by his wrists from an oak tree, "Lucifer" standing on his head, are just some of the Bronzes placed about the spacious lawns of Banacle Edge, Witley, Surrey., the home of sculptress Mrs. Lucette Cartwright. Mrs. Cartwright has made her name over the past few years for her controversial romantic powerful sculptures, which have been described as sensuous and erotic. Born in London of French parents, she studied at Regent Street Polytechnic, where she was awarded the Polytechnic Gold Medal-under Harold Brownsward. Some of her works will be included in a exhibition of new work by 14 leading British Sculptors, given in Holland Park by the G.L.C. April 1975 75-2255-003"
