Bob Hope 1959Born 29/05/1903. Vaudville comedian and singer with Fatty Arbuckles travelling show. 1927- Broadway debut in the 'sidewalks of New York.' 1934- film debut in 'Going Spanish.' 1940- teamed with Bing Crosby in first 'road' movie, 'Road to Singapore'. 1940's- overseas tours to entertain US troops, a practice he continued. 1948- founded first of several film production companies. Received three honorary academy awards and a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian award, 1959. Major movie star in 40's and 50's. sixty year showbussiness career. His films represented nearly half of Paramounts major hits of the 40's. Crosby and Hope powered Paramount to the top of the film industry profit list. 1982- est. net worth - $280 million.
