Bobby, Brenda Berryman, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, one day
The Stray Who Become A Star- A year ago this terrier named Bobby was just another down-and-out dog. But now he's living the good life. And he's going to be a TV star. Bobby used to be a starving stray. He lived under an abandoned car in a country lane and his coat was covered in oil. Then he was discovered by housewife Brenda Berryman. She took him home, gave him a bath, treated him well and had him groomed. At a dog training school, Bobby learned how he was expected to behave. And at an audition, he was chosen from a line-up of thirteen dogs to appear in a series of TV commercials. Bobby is to star as pet of a bunch of youngsters, advertising a brand of sweets. Bobby will be paid ??10 a day during filming. And on Sunday, the dog whose meals used to come from dustbins munched a chocolate on the comfortable settee at Mrs. Berryman's home in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. And his owner said hopes that TV is just a start. We hope that one day he'll be in the plays and films." she said. May 1973 P006028"
