Image ID:

This Fokker F.VIIA Princess Xenia, which had been used on the abortive transatlantic flight by Captain MacIntosh in 1927, is seen here landing at Croydon Airport on its return from a record-breaking flight from India to the UK in September 1928. Captain Barnard and Flying Officer Alliot flew the 5,000 miles in four and a half days; two and a half days faster than the record set the previous year. *** Local Caption *** 4science - Academic / Education - 25/02/2010
