Cardiff docks, Cardiff, European Metal Recycling, Dowlais Wharf., 150 tonnes
Fire in scrapyard at Cardiff docks. Plumes of smoke filled the Cardiff skyline yesterday after a fire at a scrap metal dump in the docks. About 150 tonnes of scrap metal and tyres caught fire early yesterday morning in the Rover Way area, with the blaze continuing to rage for much of the day. Winds sent billowing clouds of thick black smoke surging through the Cardiff skies, visible for miles around. The smoke turned white as fire crews battled through the day to tame the blaze at European Metal Recycling in Dowlais Wharf. 6th, March, 2011.
