The Queen Mother celebrates her 100th Birthday, August 2000Her day began by taking the Salute outside her London residence, Clarence House, as The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery marched past, followed by a band playing 'Happy Birthday'. A Royal Mail postman arrived to deliver a birthday card from her daughter, The Queen, as is tradition in Great Britain for anyone who reaches their 100th birthday they will receive a personal card from The Queen. Her Majesty then travelled to Buckingham Palace with Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, where she was joined by other members of the Royal Family on the balcony greeting the hundreds of people who had arrived to cheer her on her special day.
