3rd September 1939, Large crowds gathered outside the Houses of Parliament as the zero hour 11am approached which was the time limit for the ultimatum to Germany to expired. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announced shortly after 11 that Great Britian had declared war on Germany following the Nazi refusal to retreat from Poland
