Reg Calvert Murder Case 1966.Police & CID Officers at home of Major Oliver Smedley, the house, in Duck Street Wenders Ambo Saffrom Walden Essex, was broken into last night, pictured 20th July 1966. It was alleged that Mr Calvert was shot and killed at Mr Smedley's home in Wendens Ambo near Saffron Walden (21st June)Reg Calvert was head of rival pirate radio station Radio City & manager of The Fortunes pop group.Major Oliver Smedley was later acquitted of murder on the grounds of self defence. *** Local Caption *** WatScan - - 11/12/2009
