Reg Calvert Murder Case 1966.Major Oliver Smedley pictured leaving court, Assize Court in Chelmsford Essex, after being found not guilty of the unlawful killing of Reg Calvert & was awarded 250 guineas in costs, 18th October 1966. It was alleged that Mr Calvert was shot and killed at Mr Smedley's home in Wendens Ambo near Saffron Walden (21st June)Reg Calvert was head of rival pirate radio station Radio City & manager of The Fortunes pop group.Major Oliver Smedley was acquitted of murder on the grounds of self defence. *** Local Caption *** WatScan - - 11/12/2009
