Where is Health and Safety? The Evening Chronicle photographer was on the spot on Thursday, April 4, 1972 when demolition men moved into pull down the Trafalgar Hotel at the corner of Trafalgar Street and New Bridge Street, Newcastle. Everything seemed to be going well and the building was coming down bit by bit when, suddenly, with a crash, part of the hotel adjoiningother property, whcih were formely shops and flats, keeled over and came down on to the pavement. No body was hurt, but a quick look at the photographs show scant scaffolding and the way the men pull themselves around the building. There are no hard hats or special clothing.
