Aberfan Junior School, Miss Mary Jones, 7 year
The new generation of school children (5-7 year olds) at the Aberfan Junior School. The Headmistress Miss Mary Jones is assisted by 6 school teachers and a qualified nurse, to care and educate 170 youngsters, all of whom have been born after the Aberfan Disaster, when a coal tip buried the old school. The children are at free play in the school playing area, and in the background can be seen the grass green mountain sides now cleared of slack. The pit heads of the colliery which once featured so much in the news can be seen in the background. May 1975
