The Courage of Air Girl Liz: Ice-cool stewardess Elizabeth Cowie was the toast of the Dan Air crash survivors on Tuesday (5-7-79). Elizabeth, 23, escaped with 29 oilmen when their plane dived into the sea off Sumburgh Airport, in the Shetland Islands, killing 17 of the people aboard, Survivors said that although there was panic, her calm courage saved many of the oilmen from a watery grave.
