Greek Consulate, Greek Consulate, Liverpool, eight days
Hunger strike in Greek Consulate, Liverpool. In an atmosphere like a ship's hold the 54 Greek seamen who remain on hunger strike in the Greek Consulate Building in Liverpool are beginning to feel the effects of their eight days of self-imposed diet of cigarettes and water. Famished looking and haggard they are determined to continue their hunger strike despite the fact that many of their comrades have been taken to hospital in a state of exhaustion.
