Hello" girl says goodbye at 79: Telephone operator Florrie Smith is saying goodbye to her job at the age of seventy-nine. The machines are taking over. Widow Florrie - pictured here at work on Monday (10-3-69) will sever her connection with the General Post Office when Newick exchange, Sussex, goes automatic on Wednesday (19-3-69). She will not be transferred to a different exchange because she doesn't want to travel to work.
