An Armstrong Whitworth AW-154 Argosy, 'City of Glasgow' of Imperial Airways; a three-engine that could carry 20 passengers. Photographed on Monday 4th August 1930 it brought Amy Johnson back to the UK after her recording breaking solo flight to Australia in May. She had left Croydon on 5 May and arrived in Australia on 24 May, a flight of 11,000 miles; she was the first woman to make the trip alone.
