In the words of the popular song of the moment Up, Up and Away" went the beautiful balloon from a farm at Turville Heath, Bucks, on Tuesday (8-8-67) when film star Lionel Jeffries made aviation history. They turned the clock back 65 years and took to the air in a giant 137ft. airship that had been assembled in the old hangar used by the R 101 at RAF Cardington, formerly the Royal Airship Works . The event followed six months of negotiations with various Ministries by the producers of the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", starring Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes. August 1967 P000941"
