Joan Club, Hallford Club, Royal Voluntary Service, Hatton Derby, Halford
A giant ball of wool proved a winner for Halford Thursday Club in a competition organised by the Women's Royal Voluntary Service. Ten local Darby and Joan clubs entered the contest at the WRVS county headquarters at Warwick. The biggest, entered by the Hallford Club, was 47 inches in circumference and weighed about 15lbs. Second were Hatton Derby and Joan Club. The wool will be knitted into squares by club members and used to make blankets.28th November 1979
