The fifth Earl of Rosebery had three passions. Women, politics and horseracing. He was undoubtedly successful in each. He married an heiress, Hannah Rothschild (easily the richest heiress in the country), owned the 1894 Derby winner 'Ladas' and then went on to win two more.Then (also in 1894) became Prime Minister after the resignation of Gladstone. He was Prime Minister until 1896. Lord Rosebery died on the 21st May 1929.
