Lowden Guitars In Bangor Co Down Northern Ireland Nov 99George Lowden showed the first signs of genius when he was just 10. In 1961, with help from a Co Down postmaster, he made his first guitar out of hardboard, with nails for frets and fishing line for string. Now, he is chairman of Lowden Guitars, a company which is celebrating a quarter of a century in business, making one of the best guitars in the world. A worker does one of the most critical parts of guitar making - placing the frets on the neck.
