Major General Rao Farman Ali Khan at a press conference in the Government Hou. It is widley believed that Major General Rao Farman Ali was the principal architect of the plan to massacre Bengali intellectuals. The Major General support of the Jamaat-e-Islami in the 1970 elections was no secret, and the emergence of the militant wing of Bangladesh's Jamaat-e-Islami, the Al-Badar was no coincidence. The abduction and subsequent massacre of intellectuals was widely attributed to Al-Badar operatives. Lending credence to Al-Badar's involvement was the fact that the killings continued even after the Civil War of1971 was achieved and the Pakistan army had withdrawn
