Mary Church Terrell
Mary Eliza Church Terrell was a well-known African American activist who championed racial equality and women?s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th century. She was one of the first African-American women to earn a college degree. She was a charter member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), founder of the National Association of Colored Women (NACW), active member of the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA), and the first black member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
