Mitzi, London Dock, Ilford, England
Animals: Cats: Mitzi, the cat being examined in the picture above, has been forced to regard herself as an undesirable alien. Though her home was the s.s. England, and though it was berthed in London Dock, Tower Hill, Mitzi could not come ashore for an important appointment with the stork. For quarantine regulations insisted that Mitzi should not bear her litter of kittens on British soil. But the cat was very ill. So the crew sent an S O S to the P.D.S.A. at Ilford. And, in the caesarian operation in progress, left, they saved Mitzi. But only one of her kittens survived. May 1952
