Morpeth Rail Crash
Morpeth Rail Crash On 7 May 1969 a northbound sleeper express train from London to Aberdeen derailed on the Morpeth curve. Six people were killed, 21 were injured and the roof of the station's northbound platform was damaged. Police are seen in our picture removing luggage from one of the wrecked sleeper carriages
