This bevy of beauties looked good enough to stop traffic as they basked topless in the sunshine in Coventry city centre yesterday.It marked a proud homecoming for many of the stunning Triumph TR convertibles as they were manufactured at the city's Standard Triumph plant in Canley for decades.After cruising in the classic cars parked up in Millennium Place to celebrate the fact that one of their sister vehicles is currently featuring in a Le Mans exhibition at Coventry Transport Museum.Enthusiast Steve Redway, who edits the magazine TR action, brought his car more than 100 miles from Bristol to take part in the rally.He said: They are great cars - absolutely beautiful and cheap to run." "BMW still owns the name and we're desperate for them to bring it back into our sporting heritage."Pride of place in the display went to twin cars that were specially commissioned as competition prizes for Coca Cola and Levi's in 1978.It was the first time the cars have ever sat side by side, making it an historic day for fans of the model. Three cars were raffled in consecutive months for the iconic All Summer Long advertising campaign. They were upholstered in denim, featured a mini-fridge to keep your Coca Cola cool and even boasted a black and white television.One of the three cars is believed to be rusting away in the Liverpool docklands. The remaining two were reunited thanks to a chance encounter in Stoneleigh earlier this year. One is owned by national enthusiasts group, the TR Register and Birmingham branch member Phil Daniels then spotted the second, which is privately owned by Chris Turner, at a collectors event."I knew we had to bring them together," said Phil."Because they were raffled separately it's never been done before." Also on show were the second TR ever to roll off the production lines and two Peerless Motors, based around the TR chassis, that took part in the Le Mans 24 hour race in 1958.Half a century later one of the cars was lovingly restored to ta"
