Post World War Two - Second World War - Mrs Winifred Sykes, of Huddersfield, vice-chairman of the British Housewives' League, sets her identity card and census form ablaze outside the House od Commons. She and three other Housewives Leaguers - Mrs B M Palmer, of Sidcup (Kent) and Mrs Joyce Mew, League chairman - paraded outside the House to protest against 'man-made food shortages' saying: An underfed nation is no asset to our defence programme." 10th April, 1951"
