3rd September 1939, Large crowds gathered outside the French Embassy as the zero hour 11am approached which was the time limit of the ultimatum to Germany expire. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announced that Great Britian had declared war on Germany following the Nazi invasion of Poland.
