Bill Graham considered it important to inform and educate his concert goers. Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing's books, philosophy and thinking were much in vogue in the late 1960s and this quote expressed important concepts. So for about 2 weeks it was displayed above the Fillmore East main entrance under the marquee.
