Youngsters raised ??100 from a sponsored 24-hour-sing-in at Cubbington Methodist Church despite a casualty. One singer, Simon Poole had to leave after an hour due to an earlier head injury during a rugby match. Armed with fruit pastilles for themselves and embrocation for the pianists, more than 50 members of the youth club joined the sing-in. Some sang through the night and were joined by others during the day. They sang 150 hymns from the Methodist hymn book but changed over to pop songs as it got a bit too much. At the end of the 24 hours Mr Wesley, youth club general secretary, estimated that the group would have sang all 900 hymns in the Methodist hymn book.25th November 1975
